Quality is a significant part of Lean, and is at the heart of providing value to customers.
Customers generally focus on Quality, Cost (Value for money), delivery time and level of services provided.
Lean is about the creation and designing (Judoka) of built in quality and safety during the processing and supply of products and services. When the characteristics and requirements of good quality are assured by the process itself, you can provide a stable and consistent product or service. This is a preventative approach to quality.
There are many factors, principles, tools and practices that need to be applied to move from reactive, detection based day to day quality, to a more preventative, root cause elimination based system for delivery of quality.
If you do not have time to do it right the first time, you must have time to do it all over again.
